Two of Melbourne's brightest young stars have been charged with conspiracy following the weekend's first of five games on the field.
Matthew Brumbie was on leave earlier on Wednesday and the club had yet to announce whether he'd be returning to his former coach as he was facing a serious allegation of assaulting the 15-year-old midfielder.
But following the game, an unnamed source said Brumbie spoke to a Sydney coach on a train outside the AFL Club's training facility, near the Magpie Stadium.
Bridie, who has previously played for the Kangaroos and Warriors, is accused of being involved in an "interference" with a fight between teammates.
That allegation led to Brumbie being pulled off the field by coach Jon F. Kennedy on Sunday morning, and was later brought to the attention of manager Scott Pendlebury. He said the club would "take all necessary steps to address the situation" before making a decision.
Asked Friday if the players wanted the NRL's commissioner to take the allegation seriously, Brumbie said: "There is no question about it."
